Educational Welfare Board – Absent Days

All schools are required to comply with the National Education Welfare Board.  This body is responsible for monitoring school attendance in both primary and secondary schools throughout Ireland.

Under legislation we have to make five reports to the N.E.W.B. per year.  If any child has been absent for 20 or more days in the school year, we have to forward details of this to the board.

It is very important that children attend school on a regular basis as they can miss out on important learning opportunities. If your child is absent from school, we would ask you to send a note to the teacher explaining the reason for his/her absence.
