St Mura’s Recipe Book on Sale Now!

The Parent / Teacher Association of St Mura’s N.S, Buncrana are pleased to announce that the school’s very own recipe book is now on sale. It is a collection of some of the favourite recipes of our pupils past and present, parents, teachers, staff and friends of the school.
We are currently taking orders for the Recipe Book. (10 € per book).  If anyone wishes to order one, please email principal, Rosemary Dunne at rosedunne.ias@eircom.net

Dates For Your Diary

Our Annual Flower Arranging display will take place on Thursday 12th December at 8pm in the Lake Of Shadows. Flower arranging by Josie Coll. We hope you are getting on well with selling your tickets. More tickets are available from the school office if you require them.

The Christmas Draw will take place on Wednesday 18th December. Please return all Draw Sheets and money by the 17th December.

Our annual Christmas Carol Service will take place in Christchurch, Buncrana on Thursday 19th December at 1.15pm. We look forward to seeing you all there.

St Mura’s own Marathon Queen

On behalf of the school we would like to give Sarah Webster a huge round of applause for finishing the Dublin Marathon and in doing so raising over 1000 euros for the school! We would also like to thank each and every one who donated to Sarah’s cause; it was a magnificently kind contribution reflecting a magnificent feat of Sarah’s.

Christmas Shoebox Appeal

Dear Parents – Many thanks to all who participated in the Christmas Shoebox Appeal once more this year. These boxes mean so much to many children who would not otherwise receive any gifts this Christmas. We received 30+ boxes this year!

The Shoe-boxes have been collected from the school by a volunteer from TEAM HOPE on the 7th November.

Firstly, a big welcome to the new Junior Infants – Eva and Caroline. We wish them a happy and successful 8 years at St Mura’s. A big welcome also to Kayla, a new Senior Infant pupil and to Chloe and Daena, new pupils in 5th class.

Welcome back to school! Note for parents

We would like to welcome everyone to a new school year. A particular welcome to Eva and Caroline to the junior classroom and Chloe and Titus to the senior classroom.

Many thanks to all those who helped out at the annual cycle and the summer draw during the holidays. We have a number of plates, tray and cake tins here. Could everyone who is missing these items please collect them from the school.

We will recommence swimming lessons on Friday 6th September in Buncrana Leisure Centre. Lessons will be from 11am to midday. Cost will be 24 euros per child until Halloween. […]

Opening and closing times

We would remind everyone of school opening and closing times:-
School starts at 9.10 a.m.
School finishes at 1.50 p.m. for infants and 2.50 p.m. for first to sixth classes.

We have been advised by our insurance company that supervision by school personnel is required 10 minutes before official opening time i.e. 9.10p.m. so doors will open at 9.00a.m.
We would ask you not to drop children off before that time as we are not insured for them to be on the premises.

Educational Welfare Board – Absent Days

All schools are required to comply with the National Education Welfare Board.  This body is responsible for monitoring school attendance in both primary and secondary schools throughout Ireland.

Under legislation we have to make five reports to the N.E.W.B. per year.  If any child has been absent for 20 or more days in the school year, we have to forward details of this to the board.
